I have been a teacher in Colfax for many years and have 31 years of teaching experience. Through the years I have taught a plethora of age levels and different courses from 1st grade to high school English, science, history, physical education, and ASB Leadership. Currently, I am teaching Sophomore and 8th grade English, literacy lab, and crafts. I have enjoyed the variety of challenges each course brings to me.
I am a graduate of Eastern Washington University with a BA in Education as a Reading major. I received my Masters degree from Gonzaga in Curriculum and Administration.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with our family and friends. We currently have four grandchildren. Owen is a busy five-year-old and started Kindergarten this fall. Owen and Piper live in the Piper who will turn three at the end of this year feels she should get to go to school too. Emmett will turn four in December of 2017, and he resides in Mexico City with his international teaching parents. Our son, Brad, added to the mix with Oscar, who is turning two in December. December is a very busy month for our family! My husband, Rich, and I love spending as much time a possible with our family. I keep busy working in our yard, swimming, walks with my husband, tending our vegetable garden, riding our four-wheeler, camping, and crafts of all kind. My newest challenge is learning the art of machine quilting.
I love teaching and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of my students. I feel blessed to work with such great kids from all walks of life. My goal as a teacher is for students to know I care about them, and that they are important and highly valued by me. All students can achieve greatness! My new quote for this year is, "Team Work Makes DREAMS work!" Each class I teach I see as a team along with our staff, students, parents and community. We have to strive to give our very best each day so our students can make their dreams come true, and receive a fulfilling life in their future! I want parents to feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Together we are a team for your son or daughter!
